Differentiated line or band of sculpture anteriorly on each mesoscutal lateral lobe; the parapsidal lines are external indications of the lines of attachment of the dorsoventral flight muscles in the pharate pupa; in much of the early chalcid literature the term parapsidal furrow referred to what is now accepted as the notaulus.
